Happy Heart Day Twist and Pop Shaker Card-Karen Hasheck

Shake and twist and pop sounds like a rock and roll song, right?

The lucky recipient of this card will be shaking and enjoying the twist and pop actions of this Happy Heart Day card on Valentine’s Day this year.

Supplies Needed:

The front of the Happy Heart Day card has a shaker heart that is great fun to shake and watch the beads and sequins move around.

Die cut Happy and Day from parts of two Tonic Studios sentiment dies.

Die cut the purple heart frame, the pink heart back and the acetate window using Tonic’s Traditional Hearts Layering Die Set.

After attaching the acetate to the heart frame, apply two thin layers of mounting tape all around the back and dump in a bunch of beads and sequins for the shaker elements. If you like to have one non-moving element in your shaker cards, die cut a Mandala heart out of the center of the Mandala Flower Stamp and Die Set and color it with the new Nuvo brush markers.

The completed shaker heart was attached to the front of the top folding A2 card base. There is even more interactive fun waiting on the inside of this card:

Now it is time to create the folding portion of the card.

LOVE twists and pops out when the card is opened.

Here are the pieces you will need:

The top template is the four fold panel piece. It is cut to 10 inches by 3 Inches and scored at 2 ½”, 5” and 7 ½”. The twist and pop mechanism is cut toe 8 ½ inches by 3 inches and scored at 2 ¾” and 5 ¾”. The middle box is scored diagonally corner to corner both ways.

After folding all scored lines on the apparatus piece, the diagonal lines in the center are popped up and the piece folds together like shown.

Adhesive is then applied to the triangle only on both sides and it is attached to the center of the top folding card base.

Next that piece is opened up and adhesive is applied to the upper right and lower left only and the four panel piece is attached forming the twist and pop piece.

The outside pieces of the four panel piece are folded in to the center and the center of that piece is lined up with the center of the apparatus piece.

The outer two panels are then folded out and attached to the upper right and lower left of the apparatus where the adhesive was placed.

The whole piece will fold down flat and open as the card is opened.

Die cut four red scalloped rectangles and attach them to the four panels.

Cut apart the word LOVE from the Mandala Moments Love Stamp and Die Set and heat set the letters with Nuvo Crimson Embossing Powder.

Stamp and die cut “YOU” out of a purple scrap and attach it below the LOVE twist and pop panels.

So shake, twist and pop is how the love will be shared with my sweetie on Valentine’s Day.

Happy Heart Day to you and yours too!
