Hello friends! Can you believe it is almost Valentine’s Day? I know I can’t, but after creating about a million Christmas cards, it was fantastic to create something different. Today I have a short tutorial showing you how to create a fun Valentine’s Day card using some Nuvo Sparkle Dust!
These are the supplies I used to create my card:
- Traditional Heart Layering Basics Die Set
- Nuvo Rose Quartz Sparkle Dust
- Funky Glue Pen
- Super Trimmer
- Floral Crafters Tool Set – tweezers
- Tangerine Machine with Plates
- Tim Holtz – 5″ Snips
- Reverse Confetti True Love 6×6 Paper Pad
- black/white gingham ribbon
- 3d foam squares
- coffee filter – to catch the glitter
- Stick It Adhesive sheet
- Black & White Cardstock
Create the base of your card from white cardstock by cutting the cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11″.
Score it at 5 1/2″ and fold. Then cut a piece of black cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4″.
Cut another piece of white cardstock to 3 3/4 x 5″.
Adhere the smaller white layer onto the black layer.
Now it’s time to cut the banners.
Cut a strip of the patterned paper to 1 1/2″. Using a ruler, mark the middle point and draw a 1/2″ line.
Use the 5″ snips to cut from the edge up to the top of your pencil mark.
Do that on the other side so that you cut out a triangle at the bottom of your patterned paper. Use the triangle that you cut out to cut the other strip of patterned paper.
Adhere these banner strips onto the front of the card.
To create the glittery heart, adhere a piece of Stick-It adhesive sheet to the front of a piece of white cardstock.
Die cut this with one of the heart dies from the Traditional Heart Layering Basics Die Set. Since the Stick-it Adhesive is on the front, it will be easy to apply the Sparkle Dust.
Remove the release sheet from the front of the heart to expose the adhesive.
Place the heart in a coffee filter and sprinkle on the Nuvo Rose Quartz Sparkle Dust and tap off the excess.
Then use the coffee filter to put the extra sparkle dust back in the post.
Apply 3d foam squares onto the back of the heart and adhere it into place.
Use the Super Trimmer to cut a strip of the patterned paper so that you can use this as the sentiment for your card.
Apply some Funky glue to the back of the strip and place it on your card using the tweezers. That will allow you not to get your fingers all gooey with glue!
Tie the ribbon into a bow at the top of the card panel and adhere the panel to the white cardstock base to finish.
I love how much sparkle you get with this lovely Rose Quartz Sparkle Dust. I hope I have sparked your creativity so you can create some Valentine’s Day cards!
