Hello fellow artists, Gailgreenthumb on this end. This is my first blog post as the newest member of the Tonic USA Design Team.  I am very excited at the opportunity to join this talented team.  Why Greenthumb? I am a Master Gardener, so you will find many flowers and butterflies in my themes.

My favorite card to make is the box card. They come in many shapes and sizes. The most common is a medium size (4 ¼ x 6 folded or A6). Take an 8 ¼ x 9 piece of paper; score at 2 1/8, 4 ¼, 6 3/8 and 8 ½. Give it ¼ turn and score at 2 ¾, cut down to 6 inches. On the 6″ cut off piece, cut off 3 1/8 inches from tab side, turn and cut in half (1 1/8″) for center pieces. Then decorate to your heart’s content. Today’s box card is a whimsical happy birthday beginning with white card stock, a layer of heart shaped vellum and coordinating pink, heart patterned paper. Various sized hearts were created using the Traditional Heart Layer Basic Die Set. Adding found objects, such as Miss Kitty, creates a new dimension to the card. She is sporting Nuvo Glitter Paste, Pink Oval, on her heart shaped skirt. Here are additional close up side views of the card. To complete the card, Tonic’s die, Miniature Moments Birthday Wishes was placed on the back of the card.
